Calvin Theological Seminary
Calvin Theological Seminary (CTS) with Integrated Architecture conducted a space utilization study to uncover how the seminary uses space and what is needed to support the seminary community looking to the future. The study resulted in a transformational renovation and addition to the campus, impacting their student center, classrooms, offices, and chapel. The project and design team’s guiding principle was to create experiences and learning opportunities that are flexible and aligned with CTS’s values. With a sustainable focus, the project scope impacts most interior spaces and extends to multiple outdoor courtyards, including a significant shift in the main entrance of the building. The project design incorporates the results of numerous design work sessions with faculty, staff, students, and the Seminary Board, who arrived at solutions that reflect the broad CTS community.
"As President of Calvin Theological Seminary, I helped lead our community in a remodel of our entire seminary building as well as new construction for a 46-unit student housing building. In both cases, Integrated Architecture listened well, gave sound counsel, added value, and at the end, managed both projects with skill, tact, and a heart for seeing our community blessed beyond measure. In other words, they did great, and I would use them again in any project that we may have in the future. We found trustworthy collaborators and supporters and highly recommend them."
