University of Michigan Schembechler Hall

The renovation and expansion of Schembechler Hall on the University of Michigan Campus includes a 7,000 square foot addition designed to showcase and celebrate Michigan’s rich football tradition. The exterior renovation integrates within the athletic campus by unifying it with its neighbors, Yost Ice Arena to the North and Al Glick Field House to the South. As a result, the materials, proportions, and rhythm from the larger Athletic Campus carry on to strengthen and further solidify the Michigan Tradition. At the corner of the building, the traditional brick and limestone open to a curving glass wall that is inviting to visitors and houses the Margaret Dow Towsley Sports Museum, where The Little Brown Jug and Heisman trophies vie for attention. In addition to creating space for an area for Michigan Football Legends, the project includes renovation of the media room, student-athlete recruiting lounge, and second-floor offices.
