GVSU Harris Family Athletic Complex

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) has added a 22,280-square-foot extension to the campus's fieldhouse and renovated a section of the existing fieldhouse to facilitate various activities for different student groups, clubs, and varsity athletics teams. The activities include wrestling, dance, cheerleading, STUNT, martial arts, and the police academy for daily practice and competition. While continuing to grow GVSU's athletic's program, the Harris Family Athletic Complex shows dedication to environmental sustainability leading it to receive a LEED Silver certificate.

Laker Wrestling is Back

The extension to the fieldhouse, now known as the Harris Family Athletic Complex, is the new home of Laker wrestling teams and GVSU's wrestling program. After nearly 30 years on hiatus, the GVSU wrestling program is back.

Project highlights include:

  • Allowed renovation of an existing section of the fieldhouse to support student-athletes more efficiently
  • Three mat gym
  • Weight room
  • Expansive athletic training room for all varsity athletic teams
  • Locker rooms
  • Coaches and staff office space
  • Student-Athlete academic advising
  • Student-Athlete welfare and development office
  • Student-Athlete refueling station
  • Student-Athlete lounge, meeting, and study space.
