Downtown Office-to-Housing Conversion Celebrates Opening
CWD Real Estate Investment is celebrating the opening of 111 Lyon to residents this week. The office-to-residential conversion is one of the first of its kind in Michigan and brings 140 new housing units to downtown Grand Rapids.
Project, city, and state leaders gathered on June 1 to celebrate the ribbon cutting of 111 Lyon - 60 years and one day after the building first opened its doors. Remarks were shared by project leaders, including Sam Cummings, Managing Partner of CWD, and Mike Corby, FAIA, President of Integrated Architecture.
Mike Corby spoke about how the historic building guided the design, resulting in a space that is both modern and respectful of the building's heritage.
111 Lyon brings new housing to the downtown community, offering a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments with amenities including an indoor pool, pickleball court, fitness area, saunas, billiards room, and golf simulator. The project plays a pivotal role in closing the city's housing gap and creating a walkable downtown neighborhood.
