This ambulatory care center grew from a systematic, multidisciplinary design process that began with gathering behavioral data, experiential and needs related input from 199 end-users and stakeholders.
All design decisions were rooted in an understanding of how they would affect the patient experience, clinical team performance and facility operations. As a result, the design provides a radical departure from the traditional institutional experience, reducing patient anxiety, increasing staff productivity and enhancing building performance. Unique outcomes include:
•Open, flexible model with reduced barriers between departments
•Sustainably designed/LEED Silver certification expected
•Corporate brand reinforced
•Shared nonclinical functions
•Reprogrammable, low-maintenance building shell and systems
