Grand Rapids, Michigan

Built in late 1922, the Morton Hotel was the last pre-depression hotel constructed in downtown Grand Rapids. The high-end facility, which once housed the original offices for Old Kent Bank, evolved from its elite beginnings to a 90-year-old run-down, low-rent boarding house. Today’s renovation of the historic structure re-energizes the 13-story building, creating 120+ market rate apartments designed to appeal to the central city’s new urban elite. The top-to-bottom renovation consists of 10 residential floors, two commercial levels, as well as a new elevator and stair location.
