The first facility of its kind in the nation, Grand Valley State University’s Michigan Alternative & Renewable Energy Center LEED Gold Certified “Building of the Future” features hydrogen fuel cells, solar photovoltaic roof panels and nickel metal hydride batteries.  When all are fully functioning, the facility is able to collect, generate, store and ultimately sell electrical power to the local utility.
