In addition to illustrating higher education experience, this project shows our ability to create building additions / renovations that are filled with natural light, energized students, faculty and staff. Phase 1, the Sturris Sports & Fitness Center, brings the College’s circa 1957 physical education building into the modern era with a gymnasium renovation and classroom, office and fitness center additions. Phase II, the Alksnis Athletics & Recreation Building features a 200-meter NCAA-certified track and a turf infield accommodating indoor practice for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse. Additional wooden floor courts for basketball, volleyball, cheer leading, dance, various JV and intramural team use are also included. An extensive curtaining system supports simultaneous, multiple uses.
