Architects Earn LEED Accreditation

March 2002

Integrated Architecture’s commitment to sustainable design continues with the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—US Green Building Council) Accreditation of two key staff: Mike Corby, AIA, Executive Vice President, Design Principal, and Scott Vyn, Project Manager, Design. The accreditation formally recognizes their commitment to, and knowledge of, Green or environmentally sustainable architecture and design. Corby and Vyn are two of only 14 LEED accredited professionals in Michigan.

“We know that unless we act, the abundant resources we enjoy today will simply not be available. In our day-to-day work we do all we can to be a Green company, and we take our sustainable attitude to our clients, educating them about the benefits of Green design while offering choices that cause no environmental harm. It is amazing that a few simple changes—that don’t really add to the building’s cost—create wonderful, healthy environments filled with light and fresh air,” stated Corby, the winner of the prestigious State of Michigan AIA Young Architect of the Year Award—2000.

Providing knowledge-based solutions, Integrated Architecture has designed several sustainable buildings ranging from the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship in Loudon County, Virginia—designed to achieved the highest LEED rating possible—to an office building in Lansing that utilizes many sustainable features. A recently completed 100,000 SF office building in Zeeland is expected to receive a Silver LEED rating and is one of the first leased “Green” office buildings in the nation. Other sustainable projects currently in design include the Forest Hills Community Fine Arts Center; Georgetown College’s Center for Commerce, Language and Culture, Georgetown, KY; a student recreation center at Murray State College, Murray, KY, a high-rise research laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University, and a police post serving the Michigan State Police, Niles Township and the Berrien County Sheriff. *

Over the past ten years, Integrated Architecture has grown from a two-person firm to one of West Michigan’s largest, with 46 employees and projects from Florida to Canada.

Integrated Architecture's Mission is to serve and delight our clients by stimulating and positively affecting the community and the built environment. All that we do will be accomplished with committed determination, innovation, and the highest level of excellence. Expectations should be exceeded, spirits lifted and possibilities expanded.
