IA Grows Green

June 2009

Pumpkin, summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, broccoli, carrots, spinach, lettuce, herbs, tomatoes, pepper... the bounty of summer is germinating along the Learning Center property edge. With a goal of eating lunch straight from the garden and sharing produce at the annual fall picnic, IA gardeners are avoiding pesticides and chemical fertilizers to create an organic plot utilizing compost from the office pile and manure from a local farm.

We’ll post garden updates on this site through the summer along with our staff’s favorite summer recipes.
