Chili Cookoff & Costume Lunch

November 2008

Mechanical Engineer Neil Winegar, PE, is into his work. Literally. His personal trunk duct design is the classic Halloween Costume / Chili Cookoff lunch winner.
Neil’s recent HVAC work can be seen in the new DU Field House which just held its grand opening. (Story featured in new article list.)

IA Engineers also took top honors in the recent Chili Cookoff. Check out the recipes in the Chili Cookoff article.

A dozen IA staffers took the chili challenge and created steaming pots of spicy concoctions hot enough to warm up the coldest October day. Winning the event is IA’s newest engineer, Jeff Ellinger, PE. (Jeff’s hire announcement is included in the new article list.) While Jeff is a recent addition to our office, he’s a chili cookoff veteran. His winning recipe also claimed top honors a few years back in his church chili cookoff.

Project Architect Matt Riegler, RA, LEED AP, took second place with another white chili. Matt believes his use of pre-shredded cheddar cheese kept him from the winner’s bowl.

Besides the white chilies and the traditional red meat chilies, we also had two great veggie chilies. One from long-time IA staffer, Lead CAD technician / IT guru and recent vegan convert Bill Haddix, and a second from Senior Electrical Designer Bill Liddie, LEED AP. Both are worth a taste.
