The ia high performance office chair basketball team recently
rolled to the finals of the Dave V Classic. "Hot shooting
and a take no prisoners defense led by Team ia women, Danielle
'Stretch' Platte and Amorena 'Flash' Wojciakowski gave us
a definite edge," said Team ia Cheerleader, Trisha Spaulding,
IA Public Relations Director. Aeron Chairs flying down the
court, the ia father/son duo of Rick 'the Sarge' and 'Lucky'
Paul Koprowski kept their seats firmly planted, avoiding the
dreaded lost contact foul. Giving rock and roll a new meaning,
team ia tossed few rocks, easily rolling over the ROI Design
Dogs in the first game.
Managing the court as easily as he manages IA's design team,
Detlef-Vyn kept his shooter's eye sharp to nail bucket after
bucket. Detlef-Vyn easily worked the floor with intern architect
Ryan 'T-Squared' Brouwer. "Even when he's sitting down,
T-Squared- Brouwer is a force to be reckoned with," Spaulding
mused. "Maybe it's because he's 6'5" tall, or it
could just be that he has style." T-Squared-Brouwer's
style was evident in the glorious lay-up featured in the video
found in the adjacent link.
Adding the final touches to Team ia was Dave "Double
Zout" Huizenga, Senior Design Architect. A natural, Double
Zout-Huizenga's shooting sparked Team ia's thumping of the
IFMA team in the second round. Posting a balanced attack T-Squared-Brouwer
and Detlef-Vyn controlled the floor as Lucky-Koprowski, Double
Zout-Huizenga, Stretch-Platte, and Flash- Wojciakowski continued
to put up two-pointers and an occasional three. Tenacious
defense by the Sarge-Koprowski got ia into the finals. However,
the playmakers of Grubb & Ellis put the big hurt on Team
ia. Trailing at half, ia managed to close the gap to two points,
but the Grubb & Ellis fast break put the brakes on our
game. "It's not that we lost the game," Spaulding
stated. "We just ran out of time."
Even though Team ia couldn't buy a basket in the final game,
winning the Spirit Award eased the disappointment of second
place. Look for Team ia in '08 when March Madness again takes
Michigan by storm . . . er seat.
