IA Staff Pays Respect to President Gerald R. Ford

January 2007

It was shortly after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when cars, vans and SUVs began to trickle into the Integrated Architecture parking lot, overlooking I-96. Eyes were focused on the freeway below... waiting for the Presidential motorcade carrying the body of Grand Rapids favorite son and former President, Gerald R. Ford.

Portable TVs and radios documented the plan's arrival from Washington, DC and the crowed continued to grow, standing quietly while waiting to catch a glimpse of the hearse as it passed by.

A U.S. flag and a University of Michigan flag fluttered in the chill wind and wan winter sunshine as dozens of IA staff stood quietly and to pay tribute to former President Ford as he made his final trip past our office.
