Integrated Architecture's design of an innovative, sustainable,
office building for Herman Miller was named among the top
three buildings in the nation in the Sustainable Buildings
Industry Council's inaugural Exemplary Sustainable Building
Awards. Integrated Architecture's application of green design
earned this recognition for its successful treatment of
the whole building design approach, which integrates sustainability
and cost-effectiveness.
Accepting
the award in Washington, DC, Integrated Architecture President,
Paul Dickinson, AIA, explained the IA approach to sustainability
as doing more with less. "Our approach to green design
features simple, sustainable materials within an environmentally
sensitive envelope. Each project design is carefully crafted
for maximum human comfort, which results in tangible benefits
of increased productivity and worker satisfaction."
Demonstrating
that sustainable, green design does not have to cost more,
the Herman Miller MarketPlace construction cost of $89/SF
is 33% below Herman Miller's typical reference points and
its documented operational cost savings are 41% below Herman
Miller's other facilities.
Home
to several departments the Integrated Architecture designed
open floor plan can easily be reconfigured to meet changing
needs. Integrated Architecture's design has earned kudos
from employees and visitors alike for everything from its
central outdoor courtyard to the inventive use of bold graphic
images.
