Integrated Architecture Captures Two AIA Awards

March 2001

The Grand Valley Chapter of the AIA awarded Integrated Architecture two Honor Awards at their recent annual awards dinner meeting. Winning in both the building design category and interior renovation, Integrated Architecture demonstrated versatility of design excellence with two dramatically different winners.

The building design award went to Rush Copley Healthplex, Aurora, Illinois. This 196,000 SF healthcare project merges traditional fitness with rehabilitative, preventative and primary care physician health care services. Judges described the project as "very appealing interior spaces with great integration of natural light, would be fun to use!"

Winning the interior architecture awards was CPR, Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 33,560 SF transformation of manufacturing facility to computer tech center featured non-traditional materials as well as unconventionally shaped glass box data centers. The jury comments included an appreciation of the integration of inexpensive materials and nice attention to detail.

"We are pleased and proud to be recognized by the AIA. These awards affirm our staff's ability to deliver excellence on a wide variety of projects," said Paul Dickinson, AIA, IA President. "Our goal is to always exceed expectations while positively affecting the built environment. Both of these projects do just that."
