Integrated Architecture received the Grand Valley Chapter
of the American Institute of Architects prestigious Firm
Achievement Award at its annual spring awards gala.
"We
are honored to be recognized by our peers for our work,"
Paul Dickinson, AIA, President said. The Firm Achievement
award recognizes the effort of our entire firm as we work
to achieve excellence. In our relatively short history,
we have shaped the architecture of West Michigan through
the creation of landmark buildings like the Integrated Architecture
Learning Center, the Herman Miller MarketPlace, GVSU-MAREC,
and the Forest Hills Public Schools Fine Arts Center."
"You
see things as they are and ask, 'Why'? I dream things as
they never were and ask, 'Why not'?"—George Bernard Shaw
Mr.
Shaw's thoughts about dreaming could also describe our approach
to architecture. We have been asking "why not?" since Paul
Dickinson, AIA, founded IA 15 years ago. The goal was to
create an exceptional, unconventional firm where talented
individuals could successfully practice. As a relatively
young firm we are, for the most part, young architects.
Four of our staff have been honored with GV-AIA Young Architect
of the Year, and two with Michigan AIA Young Architect of
the Year. While we are young, we are not inexperienced.
The architecture and interior designs that we create become
local landmarks transforming the architectural fabric of
the community. We have created offices, schools, factories,
shops, homes and fitness centers that improve the quality
of life for the people who live and work within.
While
we are committed to successful projects, we are also committed
to successful, ongoing relationships with our clients. This
partnership results in architecture that exceeds goals and
expectations. Our work is also environmentally sensitive.
Doing more with less, we create efficient, cost effective
buildings filled with natural light and fresh air. These
green environments speak to the soul, providing pleasing
surroundings that encourage productivity while consuming
little energy. By conserving natural resources, Integrated
Architecture provides value and the prospect of future prosperity
for our clients, our community and our earth. The U. S.
Department of Energy, the U. S. Green Building Council and
the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment
all recognize Integrated Architecture as a national leader
in green design.
