March 2003

Grand Rapids, MI Herman Miller MarketPlace added another award to its portfolio with a Grand Valley Chapter of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) 2003 Building Honor Award.

Michigan’s first LEED™ Gold new construction project, MarketPlace has been recognized by the USGBC as among the nation’s best buildings as defined by environmental responsibility, construction and operating costs, and as a healthy place to live and work.

“It is gratifying to see this project which has received national recognition for its sustainable design, be honored for its architectural design,” said Mike AIA, Integrated Architecture Executive Vice President and Design Principal.

“MarketPlace is designed to offer fresh air, ample space and abundant daylight. These basics are what we term the new luxuries for this century. Having these “luxuries” be recognized as award-winning design is truly an honor,” Corby stated.
