Integrated Architecture’s renovation of Baker Book House recently received an Honorable Mention in the small commercial design category from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Grand Rapids (GR) Chapter 2013 Awards Program.
In addition to wining design recognition, the project is also winning new customers and increasing business. Store Manager Sue Smith reports that income from the previous quarter was up over 50% when compared to the same time last year.
Jury Comments: Feels like library meets bookstore. The retail aspect of the program is successfully toned down and not overdone. Smart and thoughtful use of materials inside and out. The clean simple elevation is nice.
