Mike VanSchelven comes to IA with more than 20 years’ experience as a designer and project manager, having worked on a number of diverse projects in Western Michigan throughout his career. Significant projects in his portfolio include the renovation of the Center Concourse, Crown Foyer, and Ambassador Ballroom in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, master planning for the Michigan Street Development including the Secchia Center (MSU School of Human Medicine), as well as Forest Hills Eastern High and Middle Schools.
A West Michigan native, VanSchelven earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Architecture from The University of Michigan Taubman School of Architecture and Urban Planning. Since graduating in 1989 he has spent his career in the Grand Rapids area, most recently serving as Vice President of Design for Concept Design Group. Prior to that VanSchelven was Senior Project Designer for URS Corporation.
